Homicide Awards (Sponsored) We are now accepting nomination for OHIA Awards. These awards, presented annually at the banquet are intended to recognize outstanding performance of individuals and teams in various aspects of homicide investigation. Inquiries and nominations for each award can be submitted to OHIA Awards Committee at awards@ontariohomicide.ca. Please submit your nomination in the online form below. A copy of your nomination will be emailed to you once submitted.
Ontario Major Case Management Award – Presented to the individual, team or service that has exhibited outstanding innovation and achievement in case management in a homicide investigation.
Mike Matthews Award – Dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and colleague and awarded to the homicide investigator who has displayed the courage, tenacity and compassion that are hallmarks of Mike Matthews’ legacy.
LyndaShawAward – For vigilance and dedication demonstrated in historic (cold-case) homicide investigations.

OHIA Merit Award - Presented to persons who, throughout the Province of Ontario, have made a significant contribution to homicide investigations or to homicide training and education.
These awards, presented annually at the banquet held during the homicide workshop, are intended to recognize outstanding performance of individuals and teams in various aspects of homicide investigation. This appreciation award was presented to Sonia Kolodziejczak and her teacher, Chuck Temple, at the Wellington County Separate School board in recognition for doing an outstanding job redesigning our logo.
Leadership Award 2018
In 2018, OHIA presented Don Cherry with the Leadership Award at his home as he was unable to attend the Workshop in person due to NHL playoffs.
